Discovery Communications’ president and CEO David Zaslav is coming to Cannes.
Zaslav will present a keynote address at MIPTV on Tuesday, April 9, as part of the market and conference’s Media Mastermind series.
Organizers say the Discovery topper will discuss the global programming environment as well as the company’s recent international acquisitions and strategic partnerships during his session.
Late last year, the global non-fiction media company announced plans to buy ProSiebenSat1′s SBS Nordic operations, a deal valued at approximately US$1.7 billion. At roughly the same time, Discovery Communications confirmed that it had entered a strategic partnership with France’s TF1, which would see the U.S. company take a 20% minority interest in the Eurosport group, which could potentially raise to 51% in two years’ time.
The company’s flagship channel, Discovery Channel, also recently announced plans to move into scripted programming with the upcoming Klondike (w/t) project, to be produced by Scott Free Productions and eOne Television.
MIPTV runs from April 8-11.
