AMC Networks has promoted Sarah Barnett (pictured) from exec VP and GM to president and GM of Sundance Channel.
Her promotion comes after IFC TV and Sundance Channel president Evan Shapiro left AMC Networks to join Participant Media last April.
Based in New York, Barnett has served as exec VP and general manager of Sundance Channel since 2009, before which she was the net’s senior VP of marketing. During her time with the network, she has helped push it into original scripted programming, while overseeing unscripted shows such as Push Girls.
In a statement, AMC Networks’ chief operating officer Ed Carroll – who Barnett reports to – said: “Under Sarah’s leadership, Sundance Channel has undergone a successful and dramatic transformation.
“Sarah has energized and repositioned the network as a dynamic, multi-platform brand that engages audiences with daring and award-winning content, and I look forward to her continued contributions to Sundance Channel and AMC Networks.”
