U.S. net Travel Channel has slated three new shows to a launch as part of ‘We Are Summer,’ a multi-platform programming initiative to celebrate the oncoming sunny season.

‘We Are Summer’ will kick off over Memorial Day weekend (May 25-27) with the new original series Rock My RV with Bret Michaels (pictured above), which sees the titular musician taking well-worn RVs and overhauling them.

The network has ordered 15 x 30-minutes plus a one-hour finale special from BCII Productions, and the show premieres May 26 at 9 p.m. EST.

Also new for the summer is Bikinis & Boardwalks, from Indigo Films. The show captures life on beach boardwalks, with special cameras mounted on everything from surferboards braving the waves to candy makers producing taffy. The net has ordered 5 x 30-minutes, premiering July 7 at 7 p.m., plus a one-hour finale special.

Finally, RIDE-iculous, from High Noon Entertainment, celebrates thrill rides and adrenaline attractions, from the tallest human slingshot on the planet and Europe’s highest bungee jump, to an underground zip line and kite snowboarding. The first season consists of 13 x 30-minutes, and premieres August 4 at 8:30 p.m.

All three new shows are exec produced by Travel Channel’s Patrick McManamee. In addition to the launches, Travel has renewed three series: Bizarre Foods America, Xtreme Waterparks and Insane Coaster Wars: World Domination.

“Summer is the biggest time for travel and this season we are packing our schedule with shows that will inspire our viewers to head out for some thrills of their own,” said Laureen Ong, president of Travel Channel. “Whether it’s hitting the beach, strolling the boardwalk, riding coasters and water flumes at amusement parks, or hitting the road for a big cross-country road trip, our shows capture the fun and excitement of the season that we dream of all year long.”
