Discovery Networks Western Europe has commissioned a two-part series from Back2Back and Ace&Ace Productions featuring world champion diver Stig Åvall Severinsen (pictured).

The 2 x one-hour coproduction will air across Western Europe in the fourth quarter of this year. The Man Who Doesn’t Breathe will follow Severinsen as he journeys to north eastern Greenland to attempt to break two world records – longest dive under ice, and longest breath-hold under water.

“Since his appearance on Superhuman Showdown for Discovery last year, Stig clearly stood out as an astonishing talent who challenges the perceptions of human strength and endurance,” said Elizabeth McIntyre, VP of factual production and development at Discovery Networks International. “His current under water breath-hold record is 22 minutes and it is fantastic to have him back for The Man Who Doesn’t Breathe, where he will attempt to break his own world record.”

The Man Who Doesn’t Breathe is exec produced by Victoria Noble and David Notman-Watt.
