Broadcasters around the globe are re-investing in cooking, creatures and The Chase, with renewals for David Attenborough’s Natural Curiosities, Chef Roblé & Co and Come Dine With Me Canada among this week’s renewals.
UKTV’s natural history channel Eden has ordered a second, longer season of David Attenborough’s Natural Curiosities (pictured above).
The 10 x 30-minute series, produced by Humble Bee Films, will feature two creatures that link together with a common thread, including episodes on the emperor penguin and the wood frog, and the rhino and the hedgehog. It is set to air in the fourth quarter.
Over in the U.S., Bravo Media is stirring up a second season of Chef Roblé & Co., premiering on June 4. Red Line Films produces the series, which follows the newly established catering company set up by Roblé Ali, as his business grows, as well as his team.
Season two sees the addition of Roblé’s personal assistant Dan; Rob, a pastry chef who appeared on Hell’s Kitchen; and Jeorge, the new prep chef. The company’s clientèle includes artist John Legend, NBA star Tyson Chandler, and Phaedra Parks of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Over in Canada, W Network has ordered up another helping of Proper Television’s Come Dine With Me Canada. In a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment, the upcoming 80 x 30-minutes season will travel across the country and feature special themed blocks.
Stops will include Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal and St. John’s, and themed weeks include an Italian challenge and ultimate BBQ masters.
German pubcaster NDR has tapped ITV Studios Germany to produce a second series of Gefragt Gejagt, the local version of ITV Studios’ game show format The Chase.
The 8 x one-hour series, once again hosted by Alexander Bommes, will have six celebrity episodes and two non-celebrity episodes.
In Africa, Zuku and Fox International Channels are coproducing a second season of its Kenyan cooking and travel series, Tales From the Bush Larder. The series will follow chef Kiran Jethwa as he travels across East Africa on a culinary adventure, and promises to be even bolder and more adventurous than its first season.
The series will be released on the lifestyle TV channels distributed by FIC, 24Kitchen, Viajar and Voyage, as well as FOX Finland.
