ITV Daytime’s quiz show Tipping Point is getting a primetime spinoff, with RDF Television commissioned to produce a celebrity version, Tipping Point Lucky Stars.

With the third season of Tipping Point is set to air on ITV Daytime, RDF Television will produce a 12 x one-hour series that will air in ITV’s early evening weekend slot.

The quiz show puts players’ knowledge, skills and tactics to the test, with a machine paying out money if questions are answered correctly. In the upcoming primetime version, the value of the counters in the machine is doubled to £100 (US$150) and the jackpot will rise to £20,000 ($30,000). Four celebrities will compete, and the winnings will be donated to a charity of their choice.

“I am delighted Tipping Point Lucky Stars is following Celebrity Chase on the path to primetime,” said Kate Madigan, ITV entertainment commissioner. “Its mix of gripping gameplay together with a playful mix of celebrities promises to be a great addition to the weekend schedule.”
