E! Canada buys Jenna Talackova reality series

Carrie Mudd’s Peacock Alley Entertainment has sold Bell Media’s E! channel on an eight-parter about Toronto transgender model Jenna Talackova.

The unscripted Brave New Girl series, to shoot this summer ahead of a fall 2013 bow on E!, will follow the life of the model and former Miss Universe Canada contestant.

Brave New Girl presents E!’s pop culture-hungry audience the opportunity to enter the wildly entertaining world of reality television, all from a uniquely Canadian perspective,” said Catherine MacLeod, vice-president of specialty channels at Bell Media in a statement Friday.

The reality series will be produced by Mudd, with Kara Haflidson serving as production executive for Bell Media.

Talackova made headlines when she was disqualified from participating in the Miss Universe Canada pageant by Donald Trump, owner of the pageant brand. After bringing lawyer Gloria on side, the model was reinstated into the competition by Trump.

News of Peacock Alley developing the reality show broke at the end of last year.
