Zodiak Media’s Latin American arm, Zodiak Latino, has hired Carlos Marquez-Sterling (pictured) to be its VP of development and production.

Marquez-Sterling will be based at Zodiak’s Miami office and will report directly to Zodiak Latino CEO Harris Whitbeck, and chief creative officer Juan Maldonado.

His primary focus will be developing new unscripted series as well as adapting Zodiak entertainment formats for both the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American markets. He will be working with a slate that includes titles such as Mexico’s Next Top Model and Sing if You Can (Canta Si Puedes) for Ecuador and Peru.

Prior to joining Zodiak, Marquez-Sterling served as senior director at the MundoFOX affiliate WGEN, and was in charge of program development with Caracol America Productions, where he developed the late night comedy talk show El Show con Tony Benítez and developed the pilot series for entertainment news magazine XTRAMAX.

“Carlos is that rare mix of decades of industry experience and a fresh and innovative approach to both development and production,” said Whitbeck. “He will do much to consolidate and further strengthen our production and development efforts.”
