ITV to end “Dancing on Ice”

UK terrestrial ITV is ending its skating competition series Dancing on Ice, with 2014's ninth season set to be the last.

UK terrestrial ITV is ending its skating competition series Dancing on Ice, with 2014′s ninth season set to be the last.

The show is made in-house by ITV Studios, and ITV is promising a final season with “nail-biting new format twists.”

In a statement, ITV’s director of television Peter Fincham said: “Dancing on Ice has been a firm favorite with viewers since it launched eight years ago and we all have every intention of going out on a high next year.

“It is always a difficult decision to say goodbye to successful and long-running shows but with change comes opportunity and the chance for us to bring in new and exciting programs for our viewers.”
