Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth, collectively known as Magical Elves, are getting back into music documentary as directors of a new project that goes behind the scenes of the globally renowned dance music event, the Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas (EDC).

EDC 2013: You Are the Headliner, produced by EDC creator Insomniac and Haven Entertainment (A Band Called Death, More than a Game), will chronicle the experience of festival-goers as they descend upon Las Vegas for this year’s edition of the event, taking place from June 21-23. Producers have issued a call for audition tapes and application letters at edcthemovie.com, and fans have until May 28 to submit themselves for consideration.

The film will also feature interviews with those behind the event and backstage footage. Insomniac founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella and COO Simon Rust Lamb are executive producers for the project.

“EDC has evolved into a unique pop culture movement and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to film it,” said Magical Elves’ Dan Cutforth in a statement, while partner Jane Lipsitz added, “We’re inspired by the stories that come together at EDC – stories of love, music, youth and discovery, which are timeless.”

“We could not be more thrilled about the vision Dan and Jane have for the EDC Movie and we are honored to be working with them to help bring this cutting edge event to the big screen,” said Kevin Mann, partner at Haven Entertainment.

Just before heading to this year’s EDC, Cutforth will be appearing as a panelist at the Realscreen West market and conference in Santa Monica, held on June 5 and 6.

Magical Elves, the team behind the Bravo hit Top Chef, previously produced Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which stands as the third highest-grossing documentary to date, and made their directorial debut with concert pic Katy Perry: Part of Me.
