Pay-TV network WOWOW has picked up Japanese broadcast rights for HBO doc Beyoncé: Life is but a Dream.

The documentary, which is exec produced by the pop star, garnered record ratings for the U.S. pay-TV network when it aired in February, with an audience of 1.8 million viewers making it HBO’s highest-rated doc in more than a decade.

Wowow has also picked up Japanese rights to stream the four-hour live global concert Sound of Change from London, at which Beyoncé Knowles-Carter will be performing. The concert takes place on Saturday (June 1).

Kayo Washio, the head of WOWOW’s Los Angeles office, said: “With Beyoncé’s popularity in Japan, we are excited to bring the concert and documentary to our subscribers and expect the programming to a success for the network.”
