Discovery names VP of development and production

U.S. cable network Discovery Channel has upped Matthew Kelly (pictured), the co-executive producer of Amish Mafia, to vice president of development and production.

U.S. cable network Discovery Channel has upped Matthew Kelly (pictured), the co-executive producer of Amish Mafia, to vice president of development and production.

Reporting to Dolores Gavin, executive VP of development and production for Discovery Channel, Kelly will be based in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Kelly most recently served as senior director of development and also served as director of development at Science Channel, where he worked on Oddities, How the Universe Works and Monster Bug Wars.

Prior to Science Channel, he was the manager of development for Discovery, where he developed shows including Man, Woman, Wild and Surviving the Cut.

His other credits include working as an editor at Journey Films, where he worked on the company’s theatrical doc Bonhoeffer.
