Anglo-Dutch producer-distributor Off the Fence (OTF) is opening a West Coast production office in the U.S. and has named Fareed Elcott to the OTF senior production team.

The company’s Hollywood studio aims to support further development of relationships with U.S. networks, and Elcott, founder and owner Ellen Windemuth, and MD of production Allison Bean will work together to implement OTF’s North American growth strategy.

Elcott comes to the company from Langley Productions, where he served as VP of business and legal affairs. At OTF he will be based in the new LA office.

The first project out of the LA studio is Generation Cryo for MTV.

In addition, OTF Distribution has acquired the North American rights to WE tv’s catalog, expanding the deal from its previous agreement to distribute the U.S. cable net’s programming to international territories. Programs include The Locator, Amazing Wedding Cakes, Diva Detectives, and I Want to Save Your Life.

This is the latest deal for OTF, following the news last week that Asian joint venture Ideate Media and OTF have become factual content partners.

“Off the Fence has continued to go from strength-to-strength in the U.S. – both in terms of producing great programming for the networks, and taking on the distribution of content to the international marketplace,” said Windemuth. “Los Angeles has a second-to-none talent pool when it comes to scripted entertainment and production for the digital media sector. Fareed brings know-how and experience to the table that will accelerate our corresponding strategies by a multiple.”
