Veteran unscripted producers Jay Bienstock (pictured, left) and Eugene Young (right) are joining Los Angeles-based production company A. Smith & Co. Productions as co-managing directors.

The duo spent the past three years as co-CEOs of Bienstock-Young Media, producing series such as Animal Intervention for Nat Geo Wild, Big Food for CMT and Times Up for MTV.

Working alongside the company’s leadership team of CEO Arthur Smith, president Kent Weed, and COO Frank Sinton, they will work to increase operating capacity and grow the production slate, taking it into new territory.

Bienstock-Young Media will cease to exist and A. Smith & Co. will absorb part of the company’s production slate.

“Jay and Eugene join our already strong operating team during the most prolific time in our history,” Smith said in a statement. “With their consistent track record of creating innovative hit programming across genres, we are lucky to have such a talented and proven pair on the A. Smith & Co. team.”

Bienstock is a showrunner who has developed and executive produced series such as Survivor, The Apprentice, Bachelor Pad and Behind The Music.

Young was formerly FremantleMedia North America’s chief creative officer and before that helped launch Endemol USA, where he served as creative director. His credits include America’s Got Talent, The Price Is Right, Deal or No Deal and Fear Factor.
