“The Cube” comes to France

The entertainment format, in which contestants aim to complete challenges within a claustrophobic cube environment, will be locally produced by Air Productions and air daily on France 2.

Entertainment format The Cube is heading to France, thanks to a deal struck between distributor All3Media International and Banijay Group-owned prodco Air Productions.

Le Cube will be locally produced by the prodco and will air daily on France 2. It will be hosted by Air Productions head and French on-screen talent Nagui, who also hosts the local, Air-produced version of Don’t Forget the Lyrics.

Objective Productions, creators of the format, will act as consultants for the French version.

“All3Media International is delighted to be working with Air Productions and we think that Nagui is the perfect host for the format, which, we are confident, will be as big a hit for France 2 as it is in the UK for ITV where it is now in its seventh series as a primetime hit,” said Stephanie Hartog, SVP of international formats for All3Media International.

“It’s a big challenge for us and the channel to produce and adapt The Cube for a daily scheduling, and we are very confident for its success,” added Nagui.

In The Cube, contestants aim to complete seven deceptively simple mental and physical challenges within a claustrophobic “cube” environment for a cash prize.
