UK broadcaster Channel 5 has commissioned London-based Crackit Productions to produce Countdown to Murder, a six-part docudrama series about some of Britain’s most notorious murders.

The series will use dramatic reconstruction and exclusive access to testimony from witnesses, crime reports, and commentary from criminologists, detectives and journalists, to chart the last days leading up to the murder, painting a picture from both the murderer and victim’s perspectives.

Individual episodes have titles including Stalked To Death, Killer In The Royal Family, The Brothers Who Butchered Their Parents, Execution At The Farm, The Kind Hearted Killer and The Facebook Killer.

“Crime, whether drama or documentary, is something Channel 5 viewers find fascinating,” said Ben Frow, the broadcaster’s director of programs. “This new commission combines both forms in a compelling and docudrama series that tell the stories of some of Britain’s most infamous killings.”

The executive producer for Countdown to Murder is Fintan Maguire and the series producer is Nick Aarons.
