Munich-based channel operator and producer-distributor Autentic has launched Spark, a factual entertainment network on South Africa’s ODM pay-TV platform.

Launched this week, Spark will air content from Autentic and ZDF Enteprises’ factual library, including documentaries on nature, the environment, wildlife, history, archaeology and travel.

The 24-hour channel aims to offer programming for all family members, and is the latest channel that Autentic operates, including Spiegel Geschichte and Spiegel TV Wissen in Germany and Austria, and other channels on ODM.

“The partnership between Autentic and ZDF Enterprises provides a tremendous output of world class original productions,” said Autentic┬áCEO Patrick Hoerl. “We strongly believe that there is a lot of interest for high quality factual programming throughout the world. Our next step is to expand Spark to territories in Eastern Europe and Asia.”

“We are very proud to be the major program supplier for this exciting new venture,” added Alexander Coridass, president and CEO of ZDF Enterprises. “This is a very interesting and innovative way to distribute our product.”
