Endemol sells “Treasure Detectives” to Yesterday

UKTV’s history channel Yesterday has acquired Treasure Detectives (pictured) from Endemol Worldwide Distribution (EWD), to air in the third quarter of this year.

The Endemol USA series is fronted by Cash in the Attic’s Curtis Dowling, a fakes and forgeries detective, who joins a team of investigators to find the history of potentially counterfeit items.

Together they trace where the item came from, how it was made and, for some items, how it was faked.

The deal was negotiated by UKTV’s acquisitions executive Emma Sparks and EWD’s sales director for the UK and Eire, Gisela Asimus-Minnbergh; and ordered by the general manager of Yesterday, Adrian Wills.

Treasure Detectives is an exciting and dynamic reality series, which combines the best elements of CSI, Antiques Roadshow and Storage Hunters, which is a big hit on Dave,” said Wills. “This show makes you wonder if there are any surprisingly high-value items gathering dust in forgotten corners of your cupboards or loft.”

“In each episode of Treasure Detectives there is an anxious and tense wait for either a triumphant or devastating result, as Dowling reveals the results of his investigations,” added Sparks. “This series will appeal to both history lovers and those looking for an entertaining and compelling watch.”
