U.S. cable network We TV has ordered six one-hour episodes of SWV – Sisters With Voices, which will track the R&B trio’s attempt at a comeback, from Entertainment One Television.
The Grammy-nominated female singing group – comprised of Cheryl “Coko Clemons, Leanne “Lelee” Lyons and Tamara “Taj” Johnson – had a string of hits in the 1990s, including “Right Here,” “Weak” and “You’re the One.”
The series, airing in early 2014, will follow the members of the group as they reunite, write new music and tour, and also face the issues of in-fighting and drama that led to the group’s demise before.
“The journey of SWV is the kind of real and personal comeback story our viewers love to see,” said Lauren Gellert, WE tv’s senior vice president of original production and development, in a statement. “These dynamic women experienced enormous success together, then it all fell apart. United again, the stakes are higher than ever, and so – at times – is the drama and tension.”
Sisters With Voices is executive produced by Tara Long, John Morayniss, Jeff Hervert, Howie Miller and Jennifer Long. Kate Farrell serves as the executive producer for WE tv.
