U.S. net History will premiere Hatfields and McCoys: White Lightning, a reality series about the descendants of the famous feuding families, on August 1.

The series, which was previewed to attendees at the A+E Networks’ Upfront presentation earlier this year, is produced by Coolfire Originals and Thinkfactory Media.

Thinkfactory previously produced the scripted mini-series Hatfields & McCoys (pictured ab0ve), which picked up five Emmy awards in September 2012 and nabbed record ratings for History.

The unscripted series will follow McCoy patriarch Jim Quick, a direct descendant of Randall McCoy, as he is given the opportunity to launch a moonshine brand with Mark Hatfield, the great-great-great grandson of Devil Anse Hatfield.

The Hatfield and McCoy families still reside along the West Virginia and Kentucky border, and continue to have bad blood with each other.

The executive producers for Coolfire Originals are Jeff Keane, David Keane, and Arcadia Berjonneau, while the exec producers for Thinkfactory Media are Adam Freeman, Adam Reed, and Leslie Greif with Chris Gillen the co-executive producer. Carl H. Lindahl and Julian P. Hobbs are the exec producers for History.
