U.S. cable network Discovery Channel is delving into the realm of Boston turf wars with Saint Hoods, launching on August 2.

Produced by MAK Pictures, the docuseries promises unprecedented access to three of Boston’s ‘bookie’ crews, including Southie, Roslindale and Dorchester, who offer loans, move merchandise and solve neighborhood problems, while also taking bets.

The rival crews battle for control of Boston’s underworld, with Southie aiming to dominate the Roslindale and Dorchester crews.

Discovery states that, “as Saint Hoods unfolds this season, you will want to keep the car running and one eye on the door because you never know what to expect when you are dealing with these crews – especially if you owe them money.”

Saint Hoods will change some identifying information and property, and some scenes will be dramatized, the network said.

For MAK Pictures, the executive producers are Mark Kadin, Will Ehbrecht, and Rob Dorfmann, while for Discovery Channel, Christo Doyle is the executive producer and Meagan Davis serves as producer.
