Scripps Networks Interactive’s Food Network is set to launch in Turkey in August, while Travel Channel and Food Network UK have increased their original content with three commissions.
The Turkey launch comes with D-Smart making the channel available to 700,000 subscribers. The deal, brokered by Louise Cottrell at Chello Zone/Food Network EMEA, includes an exclusive channel deal for Food Network HD on DTH, cable, IPTV, web and mobile platforms.
The content offered in Turkey includes Reza’s African Kitchen; Diner’s, Drive-Ins and Dives; and Guys Big Bite.
“It’s great to see Scripps further expand its global footprint in such an important international territory,” said Jon Sichel, managing director of Scripps EMEA. “Food Network’s unique lifestyle programming will be an excellent addition to D-Smart’s channel line-up.”
In other Scripps Networks International news, Travel Channel and Food Network UK have unveiled a slate of commissions.
After relaunching earlier this year, Travel Channel UK has commissioned Luxury Uncovered and Man vs World (working title).
Hosted by Jenny Powell, Luxury Uncovered looks at the secrets of service specialists around the globe, including a private plane’s cabin crew, bespoke butlers, and those who look after a world-renowned golf resort.
Man vs World sees engineer, triathlete and adventurer Rob Bell take on a number of travel challenges, including getting from one point to another without using an engine.
Over on Food Network UK, Jenny Morris Cooks the Riviera has been commissioned, following on the success of Jenny Morris Cooks Morocco. The new series will explore the flavors of the Mediterranean, particularly French and Italian cuisine.
The shows were ordered by Sue Walton, VP of commissioning and original content for Scripps UK and EMEA.
