NBC’s competition series Fashion Star will not be returning for a third season, according to reports in several U.S. media outlets.

The competition series, produced by Electus, 5×5 Media, Magical Elves and EJD Productions, gave 13 designers the opportunity to present their creations to three major retailers, with one winner getting their capsule collection sold in all three retailers.

Fashion Star switched focus in its second season, with a new host – Louise Roe – and a deeper look at the bidding by fashion retailers on the finished creations.

The first season, which was hosted by Elle MacPherson (pictured above), notched viewer numbers that were short of rival broadcasters, but the audience was made up of “a high concentration of women 18-34 in urban areas,” according to a session held last year at realscreen‘s Branded Entertainment Forum.

NBC did not respond to requests for comment at press time.
