Channel 5 in the UK has commissioned Zig Zag Productions to produce a one-off documentary, Too Fat to Fly, as part of the channel’s obesity focused ‘Supersize Season.’

Airing in the fall, the 60-minute documentary will look at the holiday horror scenarios that have been experienced by obese people in the UK and which have inspired them to change their lives.

Too Fat to Fly will recall their tales, which include being excluded from theme park rides, and examine their motivation to change. Zig Zag Productions’ Brent Baker and Danny Fenton will serve as executive producers for the show.

“A staggering 65% of the UK population is now overweight or obese and it’s all to easy to gain a few in the comfort of our own homes,” said Zig Zag CEO Danny Fenton. “Too Fat to Fly┬áis a sympathetic look at the challenges involved in going on holiday when you are a very big and how that experience can change people.”
