Amy Winter no longer GM of TLC

Amy Winter (pictured) has stepped down as general manager of TLC, Discovery Communications has confirmed, but is staying on at the U.S. cable net as exec VP of brand marketing.

Amy Winter (pictured) has stepped down as general manager of TLC, Discovery Communications has confirmed, but is staying on at the U.S. cable net as exec VP of brand marketing.

Winter was promoted to the role of GM in February 2011, taking on the duties previously held by Eileen O’Neill, who was upped to group president of Discovery and TLC Networks in January of that year. Prior to taking on the role, she served as senior VP of marketing – creative.

A spokesperson for Discovery Communications confirmed to realscreen that Winter has stepped down from the GM role. There is no word yet on whether a new GM will be appointed, however O’Neill will assume Winter’s responsibilities for the time being.

Accord to Deadline, which first reported the news, Winter had been due to relocate her family from Atlanta to Washington DC, having to date commuted to work for the role. However, the relocation did not work out as planned.
