ABC in Australia and New Zealand’s TVNZ are among the broadcasters that have acquired BBC two-parter David Attenborough’s Rise of Animals: Triumph of the Vertebrates (pictured).

National Geographic Channels International has also acquired the 2 x 50-minutes title, which was made by Atlantic Productions.

The two-parter examines the evolution of back-boned animals, showing how a chain of developments in a variety of animals over millennia formed the basis for our own anatomy and brainpower.

Atlantic Productions commercial director John Morris said: “The story of how vertebrates evolved is truly fascinating… we look forward to securing further broadcast partners at MIPCOM.”
