Orr takes up her role in November, bringing with her expertise gained working at the UK public broadcaster’s in-house production arm. Her credits include Pompeii – The Last Day and Supervolcano for BBC1 and Discovery respectively.

Prior to her innovation unit role, she was head of programs for the BBC in Northern Ireland, executive and series producer at BBC Factual, and a producer at Wall to Wall.

“This new senior role is designed to help take Pioneer into a whole new era and help accelerate our diversification,” said Pioneer’s chairman Stuart Carter. “Ailsa’s success internationally as a respected industry leader of cutting edge specialist factual TV, combined with her substantial track-record in innovation, makes her a fantastic person to lead Pioneer into its next phase of creative development.”
