Mexican actor-producer Gael García Bernal (pictured) is to appear as a special guest at the 16th Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) later this month, promoting his doc Who Is Dayani Cristal?
García Bernal will be at the festival to present the film, which he produces and stars in, on November 23 and 24. He will also speak at a lecture organized with Concordia University’s Student Union on November 22.
In addition to his work on the documentary, which won the Cinematography Award for World Cinema Documentary at the Sundance film Festival earlier this year, García Bernal is involved in Mexico with non-fiction in Mexico as the co-chair of Ambulante, the traveling documentary film festival he founded with Diego Luna and Pablo Cruz in 2006.
Last year, the actor – who has starred in fiction films such as Motorcycle Diaries, No, Bad Education and Y tu mamá también – was among the 15 prominent personalities invited by RIDM to share their all-time favorite documentary as part of the festival’s 15th anniversary.
