Lifetime has tapped Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn to be the host of Under the Gunn, an upcoming fashion competition series that will be produced by The Weinstein Company and Bunim/Murray.
Premiering on January 16, the 13-episode series also features Project Runway alumni Mondo Guerra, Anya Ayoung-Chee and Nick Verreos, who will transition from fashion designers to mentor roles.
Each mentor has 15 up-and-coming designers under their watch, as they manage, coach and cheer on each one. The contestants must tackle fashion challenges in every episode, judged by designer Rachel Roy, celebrity stylist Jen Rade and Marie Claire senior fashion editor Zanna Roberts Rassi, before one mentor and one designer are left standing as the winners.
Production begins in LA this month at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. The Weinstein Company and Bunim/Murray also produce Lifetime’s Project Runway.
Executive producers on the new show include Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Meryl Poster and Barbara Schneeweiss of The Weinstein Company; Jonathan Murray, Sara Rea and Teri Weidman of Bunim/Murray Productions; Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and David Hillman of Lifetime; and Tim Gunn.
