Keshet DCP, a joint venture between Keshet International and DC Media, has sold Israeli reality format Rising Star into the U.S., with an American version set to air on ABC next summer.

ABC has ordered 10 episodes of the singing competition, which gives audiences the power to choose a winner in real-time. Aspiring singers perform their auditions live, as viewers vote via an app and singers receives immediate feedback as they are performing.

The deal with the U.S. broadcaster, brokered by WME, marks the first time Keshet DCP has entered the U.S. market since the JV formed in October.

The newly formed company uses Keshet Media Group’s distribution and production arm, and combines it with the U.S. infrastructure of DC Media, the parent company of Dick Clark Productions.

Rising Star was originally produced by Tedy Productions for Keshet Broadcasting in Israel, and the format was previously sold into France, Germany, Italy and Russia.
