Sky Vision Productions is producing Typhoon Haiyan: Eye of the Storm (pictured) for Sky1 in the UK, and partnering with America’s PBS for a U.S. version, to air on ‘Nova.’

The 60-minute special for Sky1 will use footage from documentary news teams on location in the Philippines, as well as interviews with scientists and survivors. Sky Vision is producing the UK version along with sister company Sky News.

Dick Bower (Hurricane Sandy, Raising the Concordia) is producing and directing the documentary, which will air on Sky1 HD on Wednesday (December 11) at 9 p.m. EST.

Meanwhile, the PBS coproduction will use Sky Vision’s footage and re-version it into a special with the working title of Monster Typhoon. It will air as a ‘Nova’ special on January 22, 2014.

“This program will provide an opportunity to hear first-hand from the world’s leading storm scientists about their insight and assessment on how Typhoon Haiyan formed, why it turned out so deadly, and what it means for the future,” said Danny Tipping, exec producer and head of programming and development for Sky Vision.
