A+E Networks has recruited Fox executive Sherin Salvetti (pictured) to lead its newly created Italian arm as managing director.

She will oversee all channel operations, including programming, production, marketing and sales, and reports to the managing director for Europe, Dean Possenniskie.

The company announced the creation of its Italian arm yesterday (December 10). The Rome-based operation will launch Crime + Investigation on Sky Italia on December 16, and is working towards taking full ownership of History Italy by early next year, in partnership with Fox International Channels.

A+E Networks is the cable giant’s first wholly-owned operation in Europe, according to president and CEO Nancy Dubuc.

Salvetti, currently the senior VP of factual and channel services for Fox International Channels Italy, manages History, National Geographic Channel HD, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Adventure and Baby TV. Before taking on the role, she worked in programming and production at Italy’s state broadcaster RAI.

“I look forward to leading the local team in creating the full portfolio of A+E brands in Italy,” she said.
