U.S. cable channel Esquire Network is gambling on a series following handicappers who bet on horse racing in America, produced by Go Go Luckey.

The 10-part series looks at the world of professional horse race handicapping, by going along for the ride with selected members of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, and premieres on January 21 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.

In Horseplayers, a cast that includes a best friend team, the 2012 champ, and the youngest qualifier to date, compete to face off in the annual National Handicapping Championship, in hopes to win the title of America’s top handicapper and almost US$1 million.

The series journeys to racetrack locations including Churchill Downs, Saratoga and Santa Anita Park, and promises to capture insider secrets on picking the right pony and the unique methods used to place winning bets.

Go Go Luckey’s Julie Auerbach, Henry Capanna, Tina Gazzerro and Dennis Principe serve as executive producers.
