Rafal Ogrodnik (pictured) is to take up the role of chief financial officer for Discovery Networks Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) on February 1.

Based in Discovery’s Warsaw regional headquarters, Ogrodnik will report to Doug Baker, exec VP and CFO of Discovery Networks International; and Kasia Kieli, president and managing director of Discovery Networks CEEMEA. He replaces Mike Papadimitriou, who has stepped into the role of senior VP and CFO for SBS Discovery Media.

In the CFO position, Ogrodnik will be tasked with business planning and financial reporting, covering operational issues, and setting the region’s strategic agenda.

Most recently Ogrodnik was the finance director for Central Europe at Avon Cosmetics. He has also held roles at Sandoz Polska and British-American Tobacco.

“I am very pleased that Rafal has agreed to join us and contribute to Discovery’s development in CEEMEA,” said Kieli. “His significant experience working in very diverse industries from FMCG to Pharmaceuticals will bring a fresh perspective to our business, while his strong analytical and strategic skills will be a great asset as we move forward in the fast changing media environment.”
