MasterChef producer Shine America has hired Mike Aho (pictured) to lead the company’s expansion into docuseries development and production.

As senior VP of factual entertainment, he will identify original programming for the U.S. market that also work as formats internationally. He will report to Shine America president Eden Gaha.

Aho was formerly the VP of factual programming for Collins Ave., where he created, developed and produced unscripted shows such as Dance Moms for Lifetime, American Stuffers for Animal Planet, Meet The Hutterites for National Geographic Channel and Drama Queen for E!

Prior to that, he spent two years as co-executive producer at Glassman Media, where his credits included High Society for The CW Network, Three Wishes for NBC and The Ex-Wives Club for ABC. He also worked as a producer on Bravo’s Queer Eye for The Straight Guy and ABC’s The Bachelorette.

“Mike truly brings with him a wealth of production experience and we are thrilled to have him joining our team to help lead us into the burgeoning docuseries genre,” Gaha said in a statement.
