Senior commissioners from CNN, HBO and PBS are to join Oscar-nominated filmmaker Jehane Noujaim and two-time Sundance-winner Ondi Timoner for an anticipated ‘Risk-takers and Trouble-makers’ panel session at the 2014 Realscreen Summit.
With documentary filmmaking frequently being hailed as “the new investigative journalism,” the panel will examine the ways that doc-makers are tackling big subjects and taking big risks to get to the heart of the story.
Speaking at the session (and pictured above from left to right) will be Vinnie Malhotra, senior VP of development and acquisitions at CNN Worldwide; Ondi Timoner, director of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning docs Dig! and We Live in Public; Sara Bernstein, VP of HBO Documentary Films; Simon Kilmurry, exec director and producer for PBS’s ‘POV’; and Jehane Noujaim, the director of Oscar-nominated doc The Square.
The panel session will take place on January 28 at the Washington Hilton, and will be moderated by realscreen associate editor Adam Benzine.
