Scandinavian distributor Nordic World continues to make strides in its international expansion strategy with a batch of first-look deals with five European indies.
The Norway-based group, which is owned by Nordic broadcasters TV2 Norway and TV4 Sweden, has made deals with Denmark’s STV and Doceye, Sweden’s OTW, Norway’s Feelgood and Wales’s Cwmni Da.
The slate of partnerships comes after Nordic World announced last month that it would acquire a majority stake in format agency Absolutely Independent. The distributor also made a first-look deal with London-based format company Boxatricks in January.
The efforts are part of Nordic World’s goal of setting up a network of creative hubs and alliances across Northern Europe and the U.S.
Jan Salling, Nordic World chief operating officer and sales director, said in a statement: “While Nordic World seeks opportunities outside its home market to maintain its growth momentum, it is also vital that it remains the preferred partner for the most creative producers and rights-owners in its Nordic heartland. These deals reflect our determination to be the home of the best third-party content on the market — no matter where it comes from.”
