Spun Gold taps former ITV exec for creative director role

London-based production company Spun Gold TV has appointed Daniela Neumann (pictured) as its first creative director, joining from Viasat.

London-based production company Spun Gold TV has appointed Daniela Neumann (pictured) as its first creative director, joining from Viasat.

In her new role, she will develop programming for Spun Gold and oversee the prodco’s expansion into new areas.

Neumann was most recently the VP of content and development for Viasat, where she oversaw commissioning, scheduling and channel strategy across the company’s 11 global channels.

Prior to that she held various roles at UK broadcaster ITV, including acting controller of entertainment for ITV1, commissioning editor of factual for ITV1, controller of ITV2, and controller of commissioned programs for ITV3 and ITV4.

As acting controller of ITV1 entertainment, she oversaw and helped develop Dancing on Ice, I’m a Celebrity and Piers Morgan Life Stories, and she was responsible for ITV2′s strategy to extend some of the network’s brands, including Xtra Factor and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here Now.

She also commissioned shows including Peter and Jordan, Jack Osbourne’s Adrenalin Junkie and Footballers Wives Xtra Time.

“Having Daniela at the creative helm will both enable us to continue growth in our talent-lead programming as well as increasing development in formatted and popular factual shows,” said Nick Bullen, managing director of Spun Gold, in a statement.
