Former Picture Shack Entertainment executive Betsy Schechter has launched New York-based prodco Storyville Entertainment, which will cater to TV, film, branded and multimedia outlets.

Schechter, who will serve as president of the company, was previously co-president of Picture Shack, where she executive produced series such as Abandoned (National Geographic Channel), Staten Island Law (OWN) and Most Likely To… (Investigation Discovery).

Storyville is currently producing a music-based docu-series for MTV International and is in development on projects for A&E, TNT, H2, MTVI, Animal Planet and National Geographic Channel. Caroline Christopher, former director of development for National Geographic Television, will take on the role of VP of development and production.

“Storyville serves as a hub for creativity regardless of the genre and platform, everything from non-fiction to scripted to digital to reality,” said Schechter, in a statement.
