Doug Baker has been promoted at Discovery Networks International (DNI), taking on the chief operating officer role in addition to his post as chief financial officer.
Previously EVP and CFO at the company, Baker will transition to his new role over the next couple of weeks, and will report to company president JB Perrette and Discovery Communications CFO Andrew Warren.
As DNI’s CFO over the past four years, Baker has been a strategic leader in the company’s recent M&A activity, including its acquisition of what is now SBS Discovery Media in the Nordics, and its play for a majority ownership stake in Eurosport International.
“Doug has been a key architect in the evolution of the international business over the past few years, which is emblematic of his collaborative spirit and controlled risk taking,” said Warren in a statement. “We are confident that Doug’s new role will push the business to new levels of financial and operational discipline that will continue to drive the unparalleled success of our global businesses.”
