French free-to-air channel D8, owned by Canal+, has commissioned London-based indie Can’t Stop to make a 10-part fact ent series called Mum of the Week.

The 10 x 60-minute series sees four mothers from different social backgrounds and lifestyles rating each other’s ways of raising children.

The initial 10 episodes will be coproduced by Can’t Stop with Equilibre Production, and Can’t Stop will distribute the format internationally, including at MIPTV next month.

D8 program director Xavier Gandon said: “We are extremely excited to be the first channel to commission this innovative idea. We believe the show has all the attributes to become a global hit.”

Can’t Stop CEO and founder Matthieu Porte added: “Mum of the Week is such a neat and universal format that we have received offers from several territories, including the U.S., before a proper launch. We feel this show will travel fast and far.”
