The man behind “Undercover Boss” joins the Realscreen Awards Hall of Fame as 2014′s Producer Extraordinaire.
Stephen Lambert, chief executive of Studio Lambert and chairman of All3Media America, will be inducted into the Realscreen Awards Hall of Fame on June 4 during the Realscreen Awards ceremony in Santa Monica.
As the leader of the team behind the Channel 4 hit Gogglebox, and creator of such world-beating formats as Undercover Boss, Wife Swap and Secret Millionaire, Stephen Lambert’s innovative flair and penchant for big, bold ideas has provided the unscripted genre, and television itself, with some of its greatest moments.
In 2008, the BAFTA, Rose d’Or and Emmy Award winner followed up stints at the BBC and RDF Media with the formation of Studio Lambert, part of the All3Media family of production companies, and ushered in his next stage with a bang, with Undercover Boss becoming its first transatlantic smash. The U.S. premiere of the docureality series, scheduled by CBS to air just after the 2010 Super Bowl, brought in a record-breaking audience of 38.6 million viewers.
Gogglebox, the latest success story to emerge from Studio Lambert, has been honored with several awards thus far, including best factual entertainment program at the Broadcast Awards and best popular, factual and features program at the RTS Awards. The format currently airs in the U.S. as The People’s Couch on Bravo, and is also headed to China, among other territories worldwide.
Past producer inductees into the Realscreen Awards Hall of Fame have included Bertram van Munster, Thom Beers, and Mark Burnett.
Watch out for more announcements about the Realscreen Awards and its Hall of Fame honorees in the days and weeks ahead. The Realscreen Awards take place during the Realscreen West market and conference in Santa Monica, which takes place June 4-5.
