MIPTV ’14: ITVS GE sends 500 hours to China, Thailand

ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has sold more than 500 hours of content to digital platforms and TV broadcasters in China and Thailand.

Chinese broadcaster Shanghai Media Group has acquired 120 hours of programming ¬†to air on International Channel Shanghai as part of a multi-year output deal. The content spans genres and includes Cook Me The Money, Hell’s Kitchen USA, Dancing On Ice UK and 60 Minute Makeover UK.

Meanwhile, Thai pay-TV broadcaster Next Step acquired 300 hours of factual and nature programming, including Too Cute! (pictured), Desert Seas and Big, Bigger, Biggest.

The distributor also inked multi-year output deals to distribute more than 100 hours of drama programming to Chinese Internet provider Tencent and Chinese VOD service Sohu.

Earlier this week, ITVS GE acquired the distribution rights to the talent competition format Sing My Song from Chinese media group Star China. The deal is being touted as the first Chinese talent show format to be exported internationally.
