Canal+ has promoted its director of documentaries Christine Cauquelin (pictured) to head of the French network’s portfolio of thematic channels.

In her new role, Cauquelin will serve as the director of Planète+, Planète+ A&E, Planète+ CI, Planète+ Thalassa, and Seasons, according to reports in multiple French publications.

Cauquelin will report to René Saal, and replaces Olivier Stroh.  Her promotion comes after she first joined Canal+ in 1989.

In 1995 she was put in charge of pre-sales and acquisitions for docs on nature programming and society, and in 2001 she joined Canal+ International as director of doc acquisitions, before being named as the network’s overall director of documentaries in 2004.
