U.S. prodco The Gurin Company has penned a format deal with UK indie Zig Zag Productions for a ‘couples in crisis’ show called Love Will Tear Us Apart.

The format, which does not yet have a broadcaster, is designed to put struggling couples through “the ultimate relationship stress test,” according to the prodcos. Ten nominated couples will be whisked away to a romantic retreat, where they must put their relationships to the test.

“With our combined track record of game shows and relationship formats, The Gurin Company were an obvious partner for us to collaborate with and Love Will Tear Us Apart is the result of our combined talents,” said Zig Zag CEO Danny Fenton.

Phil Gurin (pictured above), CEO of The Gurin Company, added: “Danny and I have known each other a long time and have admired each other’s work across the Atlantic. We decided it would be fun and hopefully lucrative to collaborate, and we’re excited about this first venture.”
