A+E Networks has hired two senior executives for its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) division.

Former Nickelodeon UK exec Kiaran Saunders (pictured) is joining the cable giant as vice president for EMEA, and former Sony Pictures Television exec Jon Wildman has been hired in the newly created role of vice president of ad sales for EMEA.

Both will be based in London and report to Dean Possenniskie, A+E Networks’ managing director for EMEA.

Effective September 1, Saunders will head growth strategy and execution, as well as branded channel and digital distribution across the EMEA region.

While at Nickelodeon UK, he was the vice president and commercial director, and oversaw distribution, ad sales and business development. Before that he worked in senior corporate development and finance positions for UK pubcaster Channel 4 and RSM Robson Rhodes.

Wildman will oversee and expand the company’s EMEA ad sales operations. At Sony Pictures Television, he managed the EMEA sales business and prior to that held senior ad sales positions at Sky Media and Discovery. His appointment is effective immediately.

“A+E Networks reached a number of important milestones in EMEA last year, and these appointments reflect plans for our next phase of growth,” said Possenniskie in a statement. “One of our primary goals is to have a portfolio of three to six channels in every territory. Kiaran’s commercial background is well-suited to ensuring we achieve this throughout EMEA.”

In the past year, A+E Networks launched its first European-based, wholly-owned operation in Italy; Lifetime and H2 in the UK; A&E and CI in France; and History in Russia.

In December, the company hired former 20th Century Fox exec Denis Cantin as VP and head of content sales for EMEA.
