Twofour names Leach CEO, separates Digital arm

Following its October merger with Boom Pictures, recently expanded UK indie Twofour Group has named former MD Melanie Leach (pictured) as its CEO and spun-off Twofour Digital as a separate company.

Following its October merger with Boom Pictures, recently expanded UK indie Twofour Group has named former MD Melanie Leach (pictured) as its CEO and spun-off Twofour Digital as a separate company.

The companies stated that this stage of their growth plan, following the merger, provides a “fresh platform for investment and inter-group synergies, and the opportunity to expand the group’s offering further.”

The Twofour Group banner will now include Boom and Twofour Broadcast – the consolidation of which will be overseen by Leach – as well as the integration of Boom’s London-based labels such as drama company Mainstreet, comedy label Delightful Industries and Meerkats 3D makers Oxford Scientific Films.

In addition, the branded content-focused Twofour Digital will be rebranded and developed as a separate company, with Mark Hawkins – formerly the MD of Twofour Digital – serving as CEO.

Boom Pictures founder Lorraine Heggessey, who formed the company in 2012, unexpectedly exited the company late last month. The exec’s departure is being handled by her lawyers, according to UK trade reports.

“This is great news for everyone involved and is a superb platform from which to grow both businesses further,” said Huw Davies, chair of Boom Pictures, in a statement. “I’m particularly pleased for Mel and Mark, both of whom will – I am sure – take their respective businesses to new levels. In line with that, we will continue to look for companies to back or acquire that complement our growth ambitions.”

Leach added: “This is a very exciting time for the Twofour Group. I’m proud and excited to be working with an exceptionally talented team of people and look forward to announcing our more detailed growth plans over the next few weeks.”

And Hawkins stated: “Our experience of telling brand stories in a multi-platform world is so timely. We are building new levels of engagement and creating a dialogue with audiences to build trust and strong emotional bonds.”
