Channel 5 orders “Marston’s Brewery”

UK broadcaster Channel 5 has commissioned a 3 x 60-minute series on Britain's iconic Marston's Brewery from Shine TV, set to premiere in September.

UK broadcaster Channel 5 has commissioned a 3 x 60-minute series on Britain’s iconic Marston’s Brewery from Shine TV, to premiere in September.

Marston’s Brewery: One Ale of a Job follows the staff at the brewery – which has 14,000 employees, five breweries and 13 distribution centers across Britain – as they try to stay on top of the competition. Founded in 1834, Marston’s is one of the fastest growing breweries in the UK, and one of the world’s largest brewers of cask ale.

“The men and women we follow in this new series do everything they do out of passion for the perfect pint,” said Greg Barnett, commissioning editor of entertainment, daytime and soaps at Channel 5, in a statement. “There’s a terrific mix of characters, stories, facts and fun and I very much hope viewers develop a taste for it.”

Lorna-Dawn Creanor, executive producer at Shine TV, added: “Making beer and running a brewery is a fascinating process. Add into the mix entertaining and charismatic characters and you have a recipe for must-see TV.”
