Scripps Networks International has ordered four series featuring chefs Siba Mtongana (pictured) and Reza Mahammad for Food Network in the UK and EMEA.
Mahammad will star in his third and fourth Food Network shows under the “Spice Prince” franchise. The latest series are Reza Spice Prince of Thailand (7 x 30 minutes) and Reza Spice Prince of Vietnam (8 x 30 minutes), with both debuting on October 6.
The chef’s first series were Reza Spice Prince of India and Reza’s African Kitchen, which also debuted on the Travel Channel across EMEA.
In Thailand, Mahammad will experience the flavors of Thai food in cities such as Bangkok as well as coastal villages, meeting farmers and vendors along the way. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, the chef will travel the country to understand the crucial role spices play in Vietnamese cuisine.
Elsewhere, Food Network has commissioned two new series for South African chef Mtongana.
Siba in the Kitchen (working title; 5 x 30 minutes) will have the chef showcasing quick and easy recipes for viewers, and will be going into production this August, while Siba’s Table Series 2 (10 x 30 minutes) will highlight Mtongana’s culinary flair and present a window on her life in Cape Town. This series goes into production in early 2015.
“Discovering and nurturing local talent is a key focus for us, helping us to reflect the cultural diversity of the whole region that we operate in,” said Nick Thorogood, senior VP of content and marketing for Scripps Networks UK and EMEA, in a statement.
