MIPCOM ’14: Netflix content exec Sarandos to deliver keynote

Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos (pictured) is set to deliver a keynote at MIPCOM in Cannes next month as part of the market’s Media Mastermind Keynote Series.

Sarandos has led content acquisition for Netflix since 2000 and has been a key player in the company’s acquisition, production and distribution of film and TV series.

The keynote will take place just ahead of Netflix’s planned expansion into France, Germany, Switzerland,  Belgium, Austria and Luxembourg later this year.

It will be conducted by Eric Scherer, director of future media for France Televisions, and will take place at 11:15 a.m. on October 14.

Also speaking at the market is MIPCOM’s Personality of the Year, X-Factor and Got Talent producer Simon Cowell, who will participate in a keynote interview at the Palais des Festivals on October 13, as previously reported.

MIPCOM – which marks its 30th anniversary this year – will run from October 13 to 16. As reported last week, organizers Reed Midem will also launch MIP Cancun in November.
